I have the honour to request that I may be informed of any proposed increase of pay or suggested improve- ment in the conditions of service in the Hong Kong Police Force. I bring this to your notice owing to the fact that I have received my engagement paper to sign for a further period of five years and I notice the conditions of service.which I am asked to sign would not enable me to bear the expense of upkeep in the Far East brought about by the abnormal conditions of the past War.

I am delaying the filling up of my papers until I receive information re the above when I will promptly forward papers duly signed.
